Stabbing injures Lawton Correctional Facility inmate; ODOC investigating

Monday, August 13, 2018

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is investigating a stabbing on Saturday that injured a Lawton Correctional Facility inmate.

Inmate James Bever was found lying in a pod shower with multiple stab wounds. He was transported via ambulance to a hospital and later flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Bever, 36, is serving time on a seven-year Pittsburg County sentence for escape.

The incident is the second stabbing at the facility in a week. Inmate George Haga was assaulted Aug. 6 by inmates on a facility pod. Haga is still hospitalized.

Both assaults are believed to be linked to disputes between and among gang members.

LCF is on lockdown with all visitation canceled until further notice.
