Our Probation and Parole Supervisor of the Year is Region I’s Jon Herlan. Herlan started with the agency in 1992 at William S. Key Correctional Center, where he spent 15 years before moving to Probation and Parole. He has been an officer, team supervisor and assistant district supervisor.

Jon is an NRA firearms instructor and has overseen training and requalification for numerous years. He trains and encourages his staff to use evidence-based practices, attends weekly community sentencing court dockets and quarterly council meetings. His team also has an excellent home visit completion rate, a high positive closure rate, and only a 15 percent absconder rate.
