ODOC’s 2018 Nurse of the year Rainey Alvarado, LPN, from Oklahoma State Reformatory.

Nurse Alvarado is the backbone of the Oklahoma State Reformatory’s medical services – and has been for the past 3 ½ years. She takes charge, gets things done, and does it all with a smile and an unfailing work ethic.

Her specialties are intakes and transfers, infection control, clinics and chronic care, and helping providers. She keeps the prison clinic humming, managing its tight schedule, while also making time for sick inmates not on the schedule.

Quick with a smile and a funny comment, Rainey is a big part of the OSR team, known for saying, “You know I have y’alls back – I will do whatever you need me to do. This is my team, and you are my family.”
