ODOC releases additional details on Wednesday’s OSP inmate deaths

Thursday, September 13, 2018

OKLAHOMA CITY – The two inmates who died Wednesday at Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester have been identified as:

  • Stanley Majors, 63, serving multiple sentences including life-without-parole for first-degree murder out of Tulsa County

  • Bobby Bailey, 56, serving a life sentence out of Garvin County for shooting with intent to kill

Medical personnel found Majors deceased in the maximum-security prison’s medical infirmary just after midnight.

Bailey was found inside his assigned maximum-security secured cell at around 11:30 a.m. when his cellmate, the only person other than Bailey inside the cell, notified staff.

Initial information indicates Bailey was assaulted. His cellmate is the suspect.

Majors’ and Bailey’s deaths, which are unrelated, remain under investigation.

The state medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of their deaths.
