Correctional Officer Supervisor of the Year, Lt. Steve Clay with Jess Dunn Correctional Center

Thursday, November 29, 2018

Lt. Steve Clay is our Correctional Officer Supervisor of the Year for his outstanding leadership and mentoring skills.

Lt. Clay has been a Correctional Officer since August 2013 and has served in a wide variety of roles. He started as Jess Dunn Correctional Center’s food service supervisor back in 2010, and became a CO three years later.

Clay promoted to lieutenant in June 2017, later acting as disciplinary hearing coordinator, shift supervisor, acting unit manager, and CERT member. Today, he is a shift supervisor, as well as Jess Dunn’s CERT commander and Security Threat Group Officer.

He shoulders an immense amount of work without complaint, puts in long hours to get the job done, and helps mentor younger security officers and new CERT members. His staff, offenders, the agency, and the Oklahoma taxpayers are lucky to have him serving this state.
