Sex Offender Registration and Compliance Conference Held Thursday

Friday, October 13, 2017

SHAWNEE – Nearly 200 Oklahoma law enforcement personnel attended Oklahoma Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry training seminar Thursday at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center.

The first training of its kind held by DOC, topics included trauma-informed correctional care, drug-endangered children, using the sex offender registry, human trafficking and relationship building among agencies.

Staff attended from agencies ranging from sheriff’s offices, district attorney’s offices and the U.S. Marshals Service to tribal law enforcement, DOC and the state attorney general.

DOC Director Joe M. Allbaugh welcomed them to the event, which will be an annual training the department will hold each year in the future, helping ensure our state’s law enforcement professionals can understand and use the state’s sex offender registry.

188 individuals attended. 24 speakers participated.

DOC’s legal department staff were proud to coordinate the event, and look forward to continuing to work with law enforcement on using the registry.
