Gas service restored at OKCCCC

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Crews have restored gas service at Oklahoma City Community Corrections Center, Oklahoma Department of Corrections spokesman Matt Elliott said Tuesday night.

Heat to the rooms and for hot water was returning, Elliott said. Gas service had been out since Saturday, when someone smelled natural gas outside the facility.

DOC supplied OKCCCC's more than 250 female inmates with space heaters and carbon monoxide detectors so they could keep warm until service was restored. Hot plates allowed for food preparation.

The space heaters and detectors will remain available for inmates' use until tomorrow, once the heating system has fully recovered.
