Saturday, October 21, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Corrections and Oklahoma City police have arrested a correctional officer for 11 felony counts, including first-degree rape and forcible oral sodomy.

DOC Fugitive Apprehension & Investigations agents and police took Cpl. Christopher Adams into custody Friday and booked him into Oklahoma County jail. Adams faces one count of first-degree rape; eight counts of lewd, indecent acts with a child under 16, and two counts of forcible oral sodomy.

“We have cooperated and will continue to assist in any way we can with this investigation,” DOC director Joe M. Allbaugh said. “We are not aware of any other potential victims. If there are any, we encourage them to come forward.”

On August 1, Oklahoma City police contacted DOC, requesting Adams’ employment and contact information, which the department provided.

On October 12, DOC was advised the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s office was filing charges. In response, the agency immediately removed Adams from contact with the public and inmates.

Adams joined DOC on Nov. 10, 2014.

His posts with the agency included providing security for hospitalized inmates, and serving as a correctional officer at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud.

In compliance with the Oklahoma Personnel and Merit rules, personnel action regarding Adams is pending.
