Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, ODOC has partnered with Securus Technologies to provide inmates two free phone calls each week while visitation was suspended. With visitation reopening, these free phone calls will continue until April 15. After April 15, phone calls will still be permitted, subject to standard rates and policies.

Cimarron Correctional Facility Incident Under Investigation

Cushing, Oklahoma - On May 16, 2017 around 9:00pm an inmate at the Cimarron Correctional Facility refused to comply with orders, and a correctional officer deployed pepper spray. Several inmates assaulted the officer, and other correctional officers who responded to assist. The incident quickly came to an end when more pepper spray was deployed. 

Five staff members were injured, and taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released for their injuries, no inmates were injured. 

The incident is currently under investigation by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General. The Cimarron Correctional Facility is a private prison owned and operated by CoreCivic.
