Corrections Director Joe M. Allbaugh Statement on the 75th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor

Tuesday, December 06, 2016

OKLAHOMA CITY – Today, Oklahoma Department of Corrections Director Joe M. Allbaugh released the following statement on the 75th anniversary of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

“Tomorrow, we reflect on a solemn day where more than 2,000 heroic Americans lost their lives and another 1,000 were injured in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We must continue reaffirming their legacy and the legacies of all the men and women who courageously went on to defend the country and defeat tyrannical dictators who sought to spread evil throughout the world. Some of these individuals are still with us today and deserve the utmost respect and acknowledgment for their dedication, sacrifice and bravery.

“On this 75th anniversary, let us also not forget the many Americans who have since made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, those currently serving and those who are or will be the future defenders of this great nation.

“As the leader of a department committed to supporting those who are serving or who have served in the Armed Services, we will continue to keep these individuals in our thoughts and prayers as their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free.”
