There is power in numbers, and Oklahoma bankers made a powerful statement with record attendance at the Oklahoma Bankers Association 2017 Washington Visit. Commissioner Mick Thompson joined nearly 70 bankers, 11 of whom were emerging leaders, in Washington, D.C., earlier this month and presented a strong case for the Oklahoma banking industry to regulators. The bankers met with the following entities: ABA, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, FDIC, Federal Reserve, CFPB and OCC, as well as members of the Oklahoma Congressional delegation: Sen. Jim Inhofe, Rep. Tom Cole, Rep. Frank Lucas, Rep. Markwayne Mullin and Sen. James Lankford.
Commissioner Thompson praised the Oklahoma delegation for their support of community banking. He also thanked Congressman Lucas for introducing H.R. 3915 which would require one member of the FDIC Board to have state bank supervision experience.
