Office of the State Fire Marshal

Founded in 1911, the Office of the State Fire Marshal is a law enforcement agency serving local, state, tribal, and federal public safety organizations. Under the oversight of the State Fire Marshal Commission, the State Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for:

  • Fire Investigations and Fire Incident Data Collection.
  • Life Safety Inspections.
  • Building and Life Safety Plan Review Permits.
  • Fireworks licenses and display permits.
  • Fire Extinguisher Industry Company and Individual Licenses.
  • Tobacco Manufacturer Brand Certifications.
  • Firefighter Training Advisory Committee.
  • Wild Land Personal Protective Equipment for Volunteer Fire Department Grant Program.
  • Public Education.
