Ada’s Cain Graduates from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf

SULPHUR, Okla. — Ada native, Joshua Bryce Cain, will graduate from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf at 1:00 p.m. on May 21st at 1100 E. Oklahoma St., Sulphur in the OSD Gymnasium.

Cain participated on the Academic Team; Robotics-Drones; and the Occupational Training Opportunities for the Deaf (OTOD) program.

After graduation Cain plans to attend East Central University (ECU) majoring in Computer Science.

He has attended OSD since the 11^th grade. He is the son of Lori Hull and Robert Hull.

“I am so proud of this year’s seniors. I have no doubt that they will go forward and accomplish many great things in the world,” Dr. Heather Laine, OSD superintendent, said. “I wish them every success as they venture out to next chapter of their lives.”

This year’s graduating class includes Joshua Bryce Cain of Ada, MaKenna Jane Fleshman of Greenfield, Caden Gail Gardea of Mustang, Christopher James (CJ) Huberty of Sulphur, Kreshunna Jamelle Johnson of Glenpool, Frankie Lokeijak of Enid, Elijah James McKenna of Maud, Janesse Lashae Palmer of Lone Grove, RyJan Dax Reininger of Midwest City, Katherine Shasteen of Tulsa, Ruby Shasteen of Tulsa, Shakayla DeAnn Simmons of Lawton and Sasha Marie Traver of Woodward.

OSD is a division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), a state agency that assists Oklahomans with disabilities through vocational rehabilitation, education, employment, independent living programs and the determination of medical eligibility for disability benefits.

OSD has been located in Sulphur since 1908.  OSD provides residential and day school educational services at no charge for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.  The school provides a range of outreach programs, including preschool programs and onsite consultation for public school students, their families, public school districts and communities statewide.
