Friday, February 10, 2023

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services has relocated three Vocational Rehabilitation offices from Shepherd Center at 2401 NW 23rd to the Frates Building at 5005 N. Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City.

The Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing office is located in suite 205. The phone number 405-522-7930 and video phone 405-543-2646 will continue to be the same.

SDHH provides career planning and employment services to assist deaf and hard of hearing jobseekers in becoming employed or keeping their current jobs. SDHH’s Interpreter Certification and Resource Center (ICRC) uses the Quality Assurance Screening Test system to test and certify American Sign Language interpreters for the state of Oklahoma.

Social Security Reimbursement and Benefits Planning staff relocated to suite 210. The main number is 405-522-7971.

Social Security Administration-certified counselors in this office, known as benefit planners, provide work incentive counseling to Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries who want to trade disability benefits for employment. More than 300 Oklahomans per year maximize their employment potential while leveraging safety nets known as Social Security work incentives. These incentives provide protection if employment does not go well, ensuring that their disability benefits can resume if needed.

The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services annually assists more than 184,082 Oklahomans through vocational rehabilitation, employment, independent living, residential and outreach educational programs and the determination of medical eligibility for disability benefits.
