Commissioner Wanda Felty
Wanda P. Felty serves as Assistant Director and Community Leadership and Advocacy Coordinator for the Center for Learning and Leadership | UCEDD at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus. She is a long‑standing leader in family‑centered advocacy, disability policy, and interprofessional education, with more than two decades of experience advancing systems change across Oklahoma.
Felty provides leadership in community advocacy initiatives, technical assistance, grant and project management, and statewide partnership development. She coordinates and facilitates the Oklahoma Human Services DDS Waiver Services and Waiting List Meetings, a role she has held since 2006, supporting families and self‑advocates navigating complex service systems. As Core Faculty Mentor in the Parent/Family Discipline for Oklahoma LEND, she designs and coordinates family mentorship practicums, facilitates interdisciplinary learning, and trains emerging professionals in family engagement, communication, and transition planning.
Her statewide leadership includes long‑term service on numerous advisory committees, including Chair of the DDS Advisory Committee on Services to Persons with Developmental Disabilities (2005–present), Co‑Chair of the OHCA Member Advisory Task Force (2010–present), and Vice Chair of the OHCA Medical Advisory Committee (2022–present). Nationally, Felty serves as Co‑Chair of the AUCD Council on Leadership and Advocacy (2025–present) and was appointed to the AUCD Board of Directors in 2025.
Felty’s contributions have been recognized through multiple honors, including the TARC Parent‑Advocate of the Year Award (2011), Donna Nigh Volunteer of the Year Award (2013), Diana Distinguished Advocacy Award (2017), Catalyst of Change Award (2019), Metro Family Magazine Awesome Moms Award (2020), Oklahoma Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association Distinguished Service Award (2020), Jay Scott Brown Award for Child Advocacy (2022), Oklahoma’s 55 Most Inspiring Award (2022), Parent Advocate of the Year from the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma (2023), and the Marcia Bennett Leadership and Mentoring Award (2025).
