Commissioner Lance Robertson

Lance Robertson has extensive experience working with programs and services that support the nation’s most vulnerable and marginalized populations. 

He was the former U.S. Assistant Secretary for Aging and Administrator of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Community Living (ACL) from 2017 to 2021.  Through the administration of three dozen programs and a budget of $5 billion dollars, ACL capably represents 140 million older adults and people with disabilities.  

His unmatched experience in the development and execution of large public sector agencies, both at the state and federal level, brings a unique point of view to any engagement. He also has the practical experience of creating partnerships and successful collaborations across disparate agencies and partners, increasing the potential for impactful solutions with lasting effects. 

From 2007 to 2017, serving under two Governors, Robertson was Oklahoma’s Director of Aging Services. That state agency was responsible for various programs including the Older Americans Act and the ADvantage Waiver, the state’s largest Medicaid waiver serving 20,000 older adults and individuals with physical disabilities. 

He served as President of ADvancing States, the national association of State Unit on Aging Directors. 

He spent the first twelve years of his career as an Administrator at Oklahoma State University where he co-founded the Gerontology Institute. 

Currently, Robertson is a Partner at Guidehouse, a global consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC.  He is on the board of the National Council on Aging, the Gerontological Society of America, Cumulus, Furlong & Associates, and the University of Oklahoma President’s Council of Advisors.  His work is widely published and has recently been featured in Fortune Magazine, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Healthcare Financial Management, and America’s Essential Hospitals.  

Robertson has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a U.S. Army veteran.
