The Board serves as the official testing, licensing and oversight agency for the practice of dentistry in Oklahoma. It is the duty of the Board to protect the public safety by ensuring the safe and legal practice of dentistry through the enforcement of the Oklahoma Dental Practices Act and State Laws. The Board of Dentistry oversees approximately 12,000 licensees, including dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, dental labs and other various specialty activities. Board investigators are CLEET certified police officers, and the Board regularly works and partners with the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, the United States Office of Inspector General and other state agencies while investigating diversion drug cases and Medicaid fraud.
