Carter Beats the Devil by Glen David Gold

Follows the exploits of Carter the Great--real life magician Charles Carter of San Francisco--in the early 1900s. In this story, the Secret Service is suspicious of Carter because of President Harding's death shortly after attending Carter's magic show. Carter then performs his own disappearing act.
