Mechanical Disaster – Halting for at least 15 consecutive calendar days of the operation of all equipment available to DHS for food benefit issuance
To be eligible for benefits under mechanical disaster provisions, a household must already be certified as eligible to participate in the program as of the month in which the disaster occurred.
Mass media will be used to announce to current SNAP recipients that a mechanical disaster has happened. Steps will then be taken by the agency to issue benefits by an alternate system.
If a household applies for SNAP benefits after equipment failure, their cases will be handled in the same manner.
