Restoration of Lost Benefits
When a household loses benefits due to a DHS error and DHS timely learns of the loss, you must restore these lost benefits.
To be lost, the household must receive fewer food benefits than it is eligible to receive.
This can occur when staff
- issues fewer SNAP benefits than what the household is eligible to receive,
- incorrectly denies or closes SNAP benefits, or
- causes a delayed application.
If you are not able to determine the household’s benefit amount, request verification. Send a Client Contact and Information Request (Form 08AD092E or ADM-92). When the household does not provide the needed verification, the household is ineligible for lost food benefits.
