Identifying Household Types

The computer assigns each household a distinctive certification period based on the type of household. Annual reporting households receive a certification period of 24 months. Semi-annual reporting households receive a certification period of 12 months. Change reporting households receive a certification period of any number of months except 12 or 24.

You can determine the type of household and the length of the certification by checking the certification period in IMS.

After logging into IMS:

1.  Type ec<space>the case number.

2.  Check C7 Cert Period Field

A Cert Period of

  • 24 indicates an annual reporting household

  • 12 indicates a semi-annual reporting household

  • Any other period indicates a change reporting household

3.  You can also check the C37 BN RPT STAT field to determine the household type.

  • A=an annual reporting household

  • S=a semi-annual reporting household

  • Null/Blank=a change reporting household
