Relevant Definitions to Application Process
Applicant – a person who requests a determination of eligibility for services (either directly or through an authorized representative)
Application Process – the process in which a client applies for benefits. This process can begin in FACS, online, or with a paper application. For SNAP, it requires an interview.
Client – A person applying for or receiving services
Date of Application – For SNAP, this is the date of the first formal request whether this is a signed application, online submission, or a verbal request for benefits
Inquiry – a request for information, not a formal request for benefits
Payee – for SNAP, any responsible adult in the home, if all adults are ineligible, they can be the payee for minor household members
Recipient – a person who receives benefits
