Information About
Your Benefits

Call the DHS Human Resources Management Division at (405) 521-3613 if you have any questions
about your benefits.

Welcome to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS). We are delighted to have you as a member of our team and want to make your transition as smooth as possible. The work you'll be doing has great meaning for our fellow Oklahomans, and we hope your career will bring meaning to your life as well.

We know you want to succeed. We want you to succeed, as well. In your first days, as you're trying to remember all of the new faces, places and names, there is one thing we don't want you to forget:

You are DHS.

We have a stake in your attitude and in the collective attitudes of everyone who works at DHS. We will be judged by your performance. We are the professionalism you give, the attention you pay and the courtesies you extend.

Onboarding is the term for those things we do to welcome, orient and engage new employees into our culture over the course of the first year of their career with DHS. Certainly, it's important to complete all of the initial paperwork so you can be paid on time and select the benefits package that fits your situation. But in the long run, it's much more important you learn about our culture, and how you can become an important part of a team whose work supports the DHS mission, exhibits our values and helps fulfill our vision

Together, we can build an engaged workforce of Oklahomans helping Oklahomans.

Your first day

There will be a lot packed into the first day of your new career. You'll be meeting your supervisor and team, and begin the process of learning what it means to be a part of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

You will also be completing some initial paperwork. To the right, you'll see a list of personnel and benefits forms that must be completed on your first day. Below that are links to information about your benefits that we think you will find helpful.

Be sure to bring the following items with you:

  • Social security card;
  • Current drivers license;
  • Proof of automobile insurance; and
  • Information needed for employee and dependent benefits coverage:
    • Full name;
    • Social security number;
    • Date of birth;
    • Primary care physician; and
    • Primary care dental provider
  • A voided check from the financial institution where you want your pay automatically deposited.

If you have any questions about your benefits, please contact our benefit coordinators in the DHS Human Resources Management at (405) 521-3613.

After your first day

Many of our career fields involve both on-the-job and academy training courses. For certain positions, we've found your academy training is enhanced by combining your initial on-the-job experiences with pre-academy coursework.

You'll be assigned an experienced mentor to guide your learning and help you connect with other staff and our partners in the community.

Again, welcome to your career at DHS!
