Major Nathan Mackey serves as the Zone 2 Commander which includes Troop A-Oklahoma City, Troop K-Perry, and Troop J-Enid. Before beginning his career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Mackey served as a Master Officer with the Lawton Police Department.
Mackey joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on March 30th, 2007, as a member of the 57th Academy. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the Stephens and Jefferson County Detachment of Troop G. In 2016, Mackey transferred to the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office where he served as an Impaired Driving Liaison. In 2018, Mackey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Troop G. In 2022, Mackey was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to Troop G, and in 2023, also assumed duties of Captain of Troop M. Mackey was promoted to the rank of Major on February 1st, 2024.
Throughout his career, Mackey has served on the Emergency Response Team as a grenadier, Drug Recognition Expert, Standardized Field Sobriety Instructor, Law Enforcement Driving Training Instructor, Field Training Trooper, Field Training Supervisor, and Duty Officer with the 66th Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy.
Mackey is a graduate of Marlow High School and is married to his wife, Erica. They have two children, Dylan and Britney.
