Major Jansen Idlett serves as the Zone 5 Commander which includes Troop C- Muskogee, Troop D-McAlester, and Troop E-Durant.
Prior to working for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Idlett served as a Patrol Deputy with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 officer with the Lexington Police Department.
Idlett began his career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 2005 graduating from the 55th Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy. Idlett served as a field Trooper in Troop F- Carter and Love County and Troop A- Cleveland, McClain, and Oklahoma Counties. In 2013, Idlett was assigned to Troop W Marine Enforcement and worked Lake Thunderbird in Cleveland County. As a Trooper Idlett was assigned additional duties on the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Emergency Response Team, Dive Team, Officer’s Assistance Program, and as a Field Training Trooper.
Idlett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on October 1, 2015 and assigned to Troop A-Metro as the hoot shift supervisor in Oklahoma City. In June of 2018, Idlett was re-assigned to Troop W Marine Enforcement as the supervisor for southern and western Oklahoma. This assignment encompassed all state lakes and waterways located in southern and western Oklahoma including Lake Murray, Lake Texoma, Fort Cobb Lake, and Fort Supply Lake. On October 1, 2019, Idlett was promoted to Captain and assigned to Troop I in the Oklahoma panhandle overseeing field operations in Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, Harper, Ellis, and Woodward Counties. Idlett was then assigned to Troop Z-Criminal Investigations in Oklahoma City until being promoted to Major on September 1, 2022.
Idlett earned a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Responder Administration from Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City and holds a private pilot license. Working with the Cadet Lawman Academy staff and cadets has been a rewarding part of his career.
