Inpatient Behavioral Health Services

Inpatient behavioral health services are covered for the children and adults.

Children

All inpatient behavioral health services for individuals under 21 years of age must be prior authorized by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) or its designated agent. Non-authorized services will not be Medicaid compensable.  Services are covered for individuals under 21 in general acute care hospitals, psychiatric hospitals and psychiatric residential treatment facilities (PRTF).

Adults

All inpatient behavioral health services for adults age 21 to 64 must be prior authorized by the OHCA or its designated agent. Non-authorized services will not be Medicaid compensable. Services are covered in general acute care hospitals only.

Inpatient behavioral health services for adults age 65 and older do not require prior authorization.  Services are covered in general acute care hospitals and psychiatric hospitals.
