Office of Governor Brad Henry
State of Oklahoma
State Capitol - Oklahoma City OK 73105
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oklahoma City - Citing recent snowfall and the advice of agriculture experts, Gov. Brad Henry today lifted a state burn ban for the final four counties in Oklahoma.
An executive order signed by the governor removes burn prohibitions for Garfield, Grant, Pawnee and Osage counties, leaving no counties under a burn ban in Oklahoma.
"Oklahomans must still use common sense when they are involved with any type of outdoor burning," said Gov. Henry. "If conditions merit in the weeks and months to come, I will not hesitate to reinstate the burn ban to protect lives and property in our state."
Because of record drought conditions, Oklahoma has been under some form of burn ban 11 of the last 14 months.
