Due to the devastating effects of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) and Rose State College are postponing the Emergency Management Summit until June 11-13, 2018 at the Rose State College Hudiburg Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
“We regret having to postpone this unique training event,” said OEM Director Albert Ashwood. “But as emergency managers know, catastrophic disasters are long lasting and their impacts are far reaching. The Gulf Coast states are engaged in an enormous response and recovery effort and many other states are sending personnel and resources to assist.”
Those who have already registered for the Summit will not need to register again to attend during the new dates.
The Summit, originally scheduled to take place next week, is the only conference in the nation to bring former FEMA Directors to the stage along with their state and local counterparts to share their experiences during catastrophic national disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, the Oklahoma City Bombing, 9/11 attacks and the Northridge Earthquake.
The theme of the three-day Summit is “Observations from Ground Zero,” and sessions will provide insight into what went on behind the scenes of major emergency management responses as well as how those events shaped the profession of emergency management. This event is intended for emergency management professionals, first responders from all fields, business professionals, human resources and students.
