Wednesday, October 28, 2015

Disasters and other events that may cause business disruptions can be very costly and impact the entire community. In fact, almost 40 percent of small businesses impacted by disasters never reopen. A new training workshop aims to help businesses learn how to be better prepared for disasters and recover more quickly.

The free workshop, presented by the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, Grady County Emergency Management, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will be held in the following locations:

Chickasha
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Date TBA, Grady County Fairgrounds Community Building, 500 E. Choctaw Avenue

Attendees will learn about new and existing resources they can use to recover from disruptions and disasters while also learning how to better prepare for whatever comes next.

Speakers from the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center, U.S. Small Business Administration, United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, and Oklahoma Insurance Department will discuss topics including how to use disaster loans, resources for rural businesses, preparing and protecting businesses, continuity of operations, business insurance and more.
