SH-28 opens east of the Pensacola Dam Tuesday in Mayes County

All lanes of east and westbound SH-28 are expected to open east of the Pensacola Dam near Disney in Mayes County by Tuesday evening, weather permitting. The corridor will then narrow to one lane with flagging operations in place after Memorial Day while work completes in this area.

The corridor closed in March as part of a the second phase of a $14 million bridge rehabilitation project by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Grand River Dam Authority. The project repaired the deck and bridge structure of the SH-28 bridge at the Pensacola Dam, and this latest phase improved the two spillway bridges east of the dam.

Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time and be alert to flagging operations over the next several weeks.
