Local road changes near SH-20/Keetonville Hill project in Rogers County

As part of an ongoing improvement project at SH-20/Keetonville Hill in Rogers County, the following local road changes are taking place:

  • Franklin Rd. is closed at the SH-20 junction until further notice. This is located east of the Verdigris River.
  • 106th St. N. will be closed near Burma Dr. from Saturday morning through Tuesday.

Project background:

A $44 million project to improve four miles of SH-20 in Rogers County began in March 2021. This extends on SH-20 from S4080 Rd., which is four miles east of the US-169 junction, to S4110 Rd./Franklin Road. The corridor will be widened from two lanes to five lanes west of the Keetonville Hill area. This will tie into previous widening work west of S4080 Road.

The segment at Keetonville Hill will be realigned and built to four lanes to cross over the top of the hill. The current alignment along the hillside is a high-maintenance area due to frequent landslides, which cause debris to fall onto the highway and the roadway itself to slip and erode especially during weather events.

The highway is expected to remain open with traffic on the current alignment during construction. Lanes will be shifted at times along with reduced speeds in the corridor. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time in this area. The overall project is expected to complete in late summer 2022, weather permitting.
