December Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 6

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media may attend or watch the livestream video online.
Items to be addressed at the meeting:
- Secretary of Transportation and Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz will update the commission on the recently approved federal infrastructure bill, the department’s preparation for winter weather and the ongoing Transportation Modernization Initiative across three transportation agencies.
- The Association of Oklahoma General Contractors will present ODOT with an industry award for quality bridge construction in Elk City.
- As part of the consent docket, the commission will consider revisions to speed limits on I-35 between Moore and Goldsby.
- Commissioners will be asked to vote on whether to award a nearly $3 million contract installation of new digital message signs and traffic cameras at six locations along the I-35 corridor in southern and northern Oklahoma. They are also expected to consider contracts for I-44 bridge rehabilitation at the Union Pacific Railroad and Sheridan Rd. in Tulsa and school zone upgrades on several city streets in Midwest City.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
