January Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St. in Oklahoma City.

Items to be addressed at the meeting include:

  • Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Mike Patterson will update members of the commission on the impact of the federal government shutdown on future projects.
     
  • The department will accept awards from the American Concrete Pavement Association for a highway project in Stillwater and a county road project in Kingfisher County.
     
  • The commission is expected to vote on approval of a total of $1.4 million in funding for installation of flashing signals with gate arms at four BNSF railroad crossings on city streets in northwest Oklahoma City.

The commission, an eight-member panel appointed by the governor to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
