FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Red River Shootout in Dallas may be a few weeks away, but University of Oklahoma and University of Texas fans can tackle a deal now to get a spot on the Big Game Train.

The annual Heartland Flyer trip for the OU-Texas weekend is a budget-friendly and hassle-free travel option between Oklahoma City and Dallas. Instead of sitting in traffic, fans can sit back on the train and enjoy the game day camaraderie with other travelers. The Heartland Flyer also offers a café car to purchase snacks and refreshments.

Amtrak is offering $31 one-way tickets and $62 round-trip tickets per person between Oklahoma City and Dallas for this special Big Game Train. The Heartland Flyer will kick-off from the Santa Fe Depot in Oklahoma City at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 with a 2 p.m. arrival at the downtown Dallas Union Station. The train has regularly scheduled stops in Norman, Purcell, Pauls Valley, Ardmore and in Texas at Gainesville and Fort Worth.

The Heartland Flyer will head back on Sunday, Oct. 7, leaving the downtown Dallas Union Station at 2:15 p.m. and arriving at 9:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City.

Seating is limited and fans should purchase tickets as soon as possible to ensure their spot. For fares and schedules or to book, buy and print your ticket, go to Amtrak.com or call 800-USA-RAIL. For the special Big Game Train rates, use the promo code V561 when booking travel on the Heartland Flyer.

The Heartland Flyer has carried more than one million passengers between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth since daily service started in 1999.

(Editors and News Directors: To help enhance your OU/TX coverage, please arrive at the Santa Fe Depot prior to 8:25 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 for the Big Game Train send-off. B-roll and interview opportunities of fans departing for Texas will be available.)
