December Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 4

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Monday Dec. 4. in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St. in Oklahoma City. Items to be addressed at the meeting include:

  • The commission will be asked to consider approval of contracts for two projects completing major traffic corridors in Oklahoma City, including the final sections of the Oklahoma City Boulevard in the downtown area and SH-74 in northwest Oklahoma City.  
     
  • Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Mike Patterson will update the commission on the recent special session of the state legislature and its effect on state funding for transportation and will also highlight the major upcoming work in the Oklahoma City metro area.
     
  • Commissioners will also be asked to vote on whether to award contracts for traffic improvements to the I-35/I-235/I-40 junction in Oklahoma City, interchange reconstruction on I-44 in Lawton, reconstruction of US-270 near Seiling and US-54 reconstruction near Tyrone in Texas County.
     
  • The Association of Oklahoma General Contractors is expected to present the Pharaoh Award recognizing an ODOT project in Stephens County as the best bridge project in the past year.

The commission, an eight-member panel appointed by the governor to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
