Smith named ODOT Policy and Legislation Administrator

Montie Smith was promoted to the position of Policy and Legislation Administrator in May 2016 for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. She serves as a liaison with the legislature and reviews proposed bills ensuring ODOTs concerns are acknowledged and protected.  Smith previously served as Engineering Technician Manager for the Outdoor Advertising Control Division since 1998.

Smith began her career with the agency in 1983 as a Transportation Field Clerk for the Division three headquarters in Ada and then became Secretary for the Research and Development Division in 1988.  Later in 1993, she was moved to the OAC division and was appointed Engineering Technician Specialist until being promoted to Manager.

Her accomplishments include being a long standing member of the National Alliance of Highway Beautification Agencies, serving on the Southwest Region Standing Committee and various other beautification organizations during her tenure in Outdoor Advertising. Smith was recently appointed to serve on the “Keep Oklahoma Beautiful” Board of Directors to represent ODOT.

Smith is originally from Americus, Georgia and is married to David, a retired Division 2 Engineer.
