Plan Ahead for I-35 Corridor Construction and Delays, Consider Alternate Route

Drivers should plan ahead for lane and ramp closures along the I-35 corridor due to highway work at the following locations, detailed below.

***Expect significant delays, especially during weekends and holidays, and plan extra travel time or use an alternate route.***

Alternate Routes

  • US-81 to the west, which runs from Fort Worth, Texas through Duncan, Chickasha, El Reno and Enid to Wichita, Kan.
  • US-69/75 to the east, which runs from Dallas, Texas to the Tulsa area and to I-44 at Big Cabin

I-35 bridge Reconstruction near Braman – Kay Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between W. Braman Rd. (mm 230) and US-177 (mm 221) in Braman through summer 2022.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

 About the Project

  • The nearly $11 million contract was awarded to Wildcat Construction Co., of Wichita, Kan.
  • The project includes replacement of the I-35 bridges over the Blackwell Northern Railroad between Braman Rd. and US-177.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.

 

I-35 bridge rehabilitation near Tonkawa – Kay Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between US-60 (mm 214) and SH-15 (mm 203) near Tonkawa through summer 2021.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

 About the Project

  • The nearly $2 million contract was awarded to Logos Construction Co., of Sapulpa.
  • The project includes rehabilitation of the I-35 bridges over the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River near Tonkawa. The work is focused on repairing the substructures of the bridges and bridge joints. While the work may not be visible to motorists at times, the lane closures are necessary to help protect the crews and equipment working underneath the bridge.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2021.



I-35 resurfacing near Perry– Noble Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is intermittently narrowed to one lane in each direction between Orlando Rd. (mm 180) and US-412/Cimarron Turnpike (mm 194A) near Perry daily through early 2022.
  • Drivers can expect intermittent I-35 ramp closures at US-77 (mm 185) and US-64/Fir St. (mm 186) in Perry later in the project.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

 About the Project

  • The nearly $4 million contract was awarded to Haskell Lemon Construction Co., of Oklahoma City.
  • The project includes resurfacing of seven miles of I-35 pavement.
  • Work is expected to be completed in early 2022.



I-35 bridge rehabilitation near I-40 in Oklahoma City - Oklahoma Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • The southbound I-35 off-ramp to S.E. 15th St. (mm 125D) is closed.
  • The southbound I-235 ramp to southbound I-35 is narrowed to one lane at I-40 Dallas Jct. (mm 1C).
  • Southbound I-35 is narrowed to two lanes between the I-40/I-35/I-235 Dallas Jct. (mm 1) and S.E. 15th St. (mm 125D).
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.
  • ***Southbound I-35 traffic can expect SIGNIFICANT delays and should use an alternate route if possible. Thru traffic and commercial traffic seeking to avoid the central Oklahoma City area should consider using US-81 to the west or the Kickapoo Turnpike (toll road) between I-44/Turner Turnpike and I-40/I-240 to the east. ***

 About the Project

  • The nearly $2 million contract was awarded to Built Right Construction of Savanna, Okla.
  • The project includes rehabilitation of the I-35 bridges over the Stillwater Central Railroad, just south of I-40.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2021.



I-35 Ramp closure for city street work at Robinson St. in Norman - Cleveland Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • The southbound I-35 off-ramp to eastbound Robinson St. (Exit 110B) is closed. The off-ramp to westboud Robinson St. remains open.
  • The southbound I-35 on-ramp from Robinson St. is closed. Drivers are detoured on Interstate Dr. south to Main St. to access I-35.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

 About the Project

  • The more than $5 million contract was awarded to Redlands Contracting, of Warr Acres.
  • The project includes city street intersection modification and traffic signal improvements at Crossroads Blvd. and Robinson St., just west of I-35, by the City of Norman.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2021.

 

I-35 bridge rehabilitation & ramp reconstruction in Goldsby - McClain Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • North and southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane at SH-74 South (mm 104) in Goldsby during overnight hours nightly through summer 2021.
  • Motorists exiting southbound I-35 now exit to the new loop off-ramp at SH-74 South, which is located just south of the SH-74 bridge over I-35. Exiting traffic must come to a stop at the end of the ramp before turning onto SH-74 South/Main St. Drivers can expect traffic delays during peak travel times, especially evening rush hour.
  • The northbound I-35 on- and off-ramps at SH-74 South now intersect Main St., Adkins Hill Rd. and Airport Rd. at a new roundabout.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $4.8 million contract awarded to Allen Contracting, of Oklahoma City.
  • The project includes rehabilitation of the SH-74 South bridge over I-35 and reconstruction the ramps at I-35 and SH-74 South, including a new roundabout Main St., Adkins Hill Rd. and Airport Rd.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2021.



I-35 pavement rehabilitation near wayne - McClain Co.

***Expect significant congestion and very lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-59 (mm 86) and two miles south of SH-59 (mm 84) near Wayne through early 2022.
  • The I-35 on- and off-ramps at SH-59 will remain open to traffic. 
  • All lanes will reopen from Oct. 8-10 and then will remain narrowed throuth the project.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $12 million contract was awarded to IHC Scott, Inc., of Englewood, Colo.
  • The project will rehabilitate about one mile of I-35 pavement south of SH-59.
  • Work is expected to be completed in early 2022.



I-35 Pavement Reconstruction between Paoli and Pauls Valley - Garvin Co.

***Expect significant congestion and lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from about three miles south of SH-145 (mm 76) near Paoli to Airline Rd. (mm 70) in Pauls Valley through early 2022.
  • All lanes will reopen from Oct. 8-10 and then will remain narrowed throuth the project.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $20 million contract was awarded to IHC Scott, Inc., of Englewood, Colo.
  • The project includes reconstruction of three miles of I-35 pavement between the Washita River bridge and SH-19 in Pauls Valley.
  • All work is expected to be completed in early 2022.
 
 
 

I-35 Pavement Testing near Wynnewood - Garvin Co.

***Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18***

Impact to Traffic

  • North and southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane at various locations between SH-29 (mm 66) near Wynnewood and Ruppe Rd. (mm 60) in Garvin County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18.
  • The speed limit will be intermittently reduced.

About the Project

  • This work includes routine pavement sampling and testing as part of planning future projects.
 
 
 

I-35 sign replacement between Davis and Thackerville - Murray/Carter/Love Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • Drivers can expect various intermittent lane and shoulder closures on north and southbound I-35 at various locations between SH-7 (mm 55) near Davis and the Texas state line (mm 1) near Thackerville through summer 2021.
  • The speed limit will be intermittently reduced at various locations when work is underway.

About the Project

  • The nearly $3 million contract was awarded to Action Safety Supply Co., of Oklahoma City.
  • The project includes replacement of outdated and faded I-35 signage at multiple locations in southern Oklahoma.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2021.




I-35 bridge replacement near Mariettta - Love Co.


***Begins July 6, 2021; expect significant congestion and very lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction about four miles north of SH-153 (mm 9) between Thackerville and Marietta beginning July 6.
  • All lanes will reopen from Oct. 8-10 and then will remain narrowed throuth the project.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $3 million contract awarded to C3 Construction, of Ada.
  • The project includes reconstruction of the E. 2180 Rd./Burkhart Rd. bridge over I-35.
  • Work is expected to be completed in spring 2022.
