Plan Ahead for I-35 Corridor Construction and Delays, Consider Alternate Route

Drivers should plan ahead for lane and ramp closures along the I-35 corridor due to highway work at the following locations, detailed below.

***Expect significant delays, especially during weekends and holidays, and plan extra travel time or use an alternate route.***

Suggested Alternate Routes

  • US-81 to the west, which runs from Fort Worth, Texas through Duncan, Chickasha, El Reno and Enid to Wichita, Kan.
  • US-69/75 to the east, which runs from Dallas, Texas to the Tulsa area and to I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike at Big Cabin, providing access to Joplin, Mo. and Kansas City

I-35 bridge Reconstruction near Braman – Kay Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between W. Braman Rd. (mm 230) and US-177 (mm 221) in Braman through summer 2022.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

 About the Project

  • The nearly $11 million contract was awarded to Wildcat Construction Co., of Wichita, Kan.
  • The project includes replacement of the I-35 bridges over the Blackwell Northern Railroad between Braman Rd. and US-177.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.

 

I-35 Resurfacing between Blackwell and Tonkawa – Kay Co.

Impact to Traffic

  • North and southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane between just north of SH-11 (mm 223) near Blackwell and just south of US-60 (mm 213) near Tonkawa through summer 2022.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

 About the Project

  • The nearly $7 million contract was awarded to Haskell Lemon Construction, of Oklahoma City
  • The project includes resurfacing of nearly 11 miles of asphalt pavement on I-35.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.

 

I-35 pavement rehabilitation near wayne - McClain Co.

***Expect significant congestion and very lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-59 (mm 86) and two miles south of SH-59 (mm 84) near Wayne through summer 2022.
  • The I-35 on- and off-ramps at SH-59 will be intermittently closed.
  • All lanes reopened Oct. 8-10 and then were narrowed through the remainder of the project.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $12 million contract was awarded to IHC Scott, Inc., of Englewood, Colo.
  • The project will rehabilitate about one mile of I-35 pavement south of SH-59.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.



I-35 Pavement Reconstruction between Paoli and Pauls Valley - Garvin Co.

***Expect significant congestion and lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from about three miles south of SH-145 (mm 76) near Paoli to Airline Rd. (mm 70) in Pauls Valley through summer 2022. 
  • All lanes of I-35 reopened Oct. 8-10 and then were narrowed again for the remainder of the project.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $20 million contract was awarded to IHC Scott, Inc., of Englewood, Colo.
  • The project includes reconstruction of three miles of I-35 pavement between the Washita River bridge and SH-19 in Pauls Valley.
  • All work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.
 
 
 

I-35 bridge reconstruction near Davis/turner falls - murray Co.

***Start date TBD**

Impact to Traffic

  • Southbound I-35 will be narrowed to one lane just south of US-77 North (mm 51) in the Turner Falls area, south of Davis.
  • I-35 on- and off-ramps at US-77 will generally remain open; however, some short-term closures may be necessary during certain phases of construction.
  • Drivers can expect lane shifts and narrowed lane widths.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.  

About the Project

  • The more than $6 million contract was awarded to Frontier Bridge, of Okarche.
  • The project includes reconstruction of the southbound I-35 bridge over SH-77D.
  • All work is expected to be completed in spring 2023.
 
 
 

I-35 Resurfacing between Davis/TUrner Falls and Springer - Murray Co.

***Work starts July 11***

Impact to Traffic

  • Southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane from just north of US-77 North (mm 52) near Turner Falls to the Carter Co. line (mm 46) near Springer on weekdays beignning July 11 and continuing through summer 2022. 
  • All lanes are expected to be open each Friday afternoon through Sunday night.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.  

About the Project

  • The more than $1 million contract was awarded to Overland Corp., of Ardmore
  • The project includes nearly seven miles of asphalt resurfacing on southbound I-35.
  • All work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.
 
 
 

I-35 bridge Reconstruction near Mariettta - Love Co.


***Updated; Expect significant congestion and very lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction about four miles north of SH-153 (mm 9) between Thackerville and Marietta each week from Monday morning until Friday afternoon through spring 2022.
  • All lanes are expected to be open each weekend from Friday afternoon until Monday morning.
  • This work zone overlaps with the I-35 project at US-77 and the BNSF Railway (mm 8).
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $3 million contract was awarded to C3 Construction, of Ada.
  • The project includes reconstruction of the E. 2180 Rd./Burkhart Rd. bridge over I-35.
  • Work is expected to be completed in summer 2022.



I-35 bridge Reconstruction near Thackerville - Love Co.

***Updated; Expect significant congestion and very lengthy travel delays***

Impact to Traffic

  • I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction about three miles north of SH-153 (mm 8) near Thackerville through early July 2022 for the next phase of bridge reconstruction.
  • This work zone overlaps with the I-35 project at E. 2180 Rd./Burkhart Rd. (mm 9).
  • US-77 will remain open during construction, as well as nearby county roads.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

About the Project

  • The $32 million contract was awarded to C3 Construction, of Ada.
  • The project includes reconstruction of the I-35 bridges over US-77 and the BNSF Railway north of Thackerville in multiple phases.
  • Work is expected to continue through 2023.
