Deputy Director

Deputy Director, Cassie Spindle

Cassie Spindle joined the Oklahoma Department of Libraries on October 10, 2022, as the agency’s Deputy Director. She brings with her 20 years of public library experience having served at the three largest public library systems in the state.

Spindle served as the Children’s Services Manager at the South OKC branch of the Pioneer Library System where she was responsible for leading and implementing system wide strategic planning and implementation of best practices. Previously, she worked as the Branch Manager for the Belle Isle Library of the Metropolitan Library System, and Literacy Coordinator for the Tulsa City County Library System, where she honed skills in employee development, federal grants management, and advocacy.

In her capacity as ODL Deputy Director, Spindle’s focus will be library development, literacy, and statewide projects. “I believe libraries are a critical component for a thriving community, especially in a time of crisis,” said Spindle. “I am excited about having the opportunity to help lead the Oklahoma Department of Libraries in having a positive impact on both public and special libraries across the state of Oklahoma.”

Spindle earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Relations in 2006, and a Master of Library and Information Studies in 2012, both from the University of Oklahoma.
