One Health

OPCIE has adopted a One Health approach to public health. This approach recognizes that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our environment. By adopting a One Health approach to public health, OPCIE is setting a NEW STANDARD for promoting, preserving, and responding to public health globally.

As a largely rural and agricultural state, Oklahoma is uniquely positioned to capture the benefits of animal science insights as a tool to improve human health. This comprehensive approach to public health has garnered broad-based support from Oklahoma’s agricultural community including the American Farmers & Ranchers, Oklahoma Agricultural Cooperative Council, Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, Oklahoma Cotton Council, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association, Oklahoma Pork Council, Oklahoma Livestock Marketing Association, and Oklahoma Poultry Federation.
