WIC Breastfeeding Symposium

About the Training
We are pumped to announce we will be hosting a WIC Breastfeeding Symposium this year! This optional training will be for IBCLCs, WIC CPAs, nutritionists, nurses, peer counselors, tribal WIC partners and other healthcare professionals that work with breastfeeding moms and babies and is NO COST. Sessions are approved for 5.0 L-CERPs recognized by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

Registration deadline is COB Friday, May 30th.
There is not a designated hotel for the WIC Breastfeeding Symposium. State employees that qualify to stay overnight may stay at any hotel that will honor the Oklahoma County State rate of $116/night plus associated fees and taxes. OSDH will not reimburse lodging over the designated rate. If you stay outside of Oklahoma County, the state will only reimburse the standard rate of $110 plus associated fees and taxes.
WIC will reimburse travel expenses for OSDH staff members who provide WIC services and meet the following criteria:
- Overnight Travel Status is required for a traveler to be reimbursed for lodging or per diem.
- A state employee is eligible for overnight travel status when the destination/object of travel is over 60 miles away from their duty station.
All travel claims must be submitted using the current Travel form which is posted on the WIC Training Link, along with an example travel claim. OSDH staff - please send your completed travel claim, signed by you and your supervisor to Julie Tucker at juliet@health.ok.gov. For any questions regarding travel or the form, please contact Travel@health.ok.gov before submitting the form. Non-OSDH staff should refer to your employer/supervisor for specific travel guidelines.
WIC will provide a light morning & afternoon snack and refreshments including water, coffee & hot tea. On-site vending is available and multiple restaurants are nearby for your breakfast, lunch and dinner needs.
Important Information
Infants at Trainings: Due to the professional nature of these trainings, only quiet nursing infants less than 6 months and no older children, please. Mothers are encouraged to have a care provider along who can attend to the infant’s needs outside the meeting area. A lactation lounge will be provided for the convenience of our nursing and pumping mothers.
