Intermediate Nursing Facility for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities

Specialized Nursing Facility for Alzheimer's Residents

Alzheimer's Disease Special Care Disclosure Act

This law provides for the disclosure of information on special care provided to persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders at nursing and specialized nursing facilities, residential care homes and assisted living centers licensed by the Oklahoma State department of Health. Available documents are the Alzheimer’s Disease Special Care Disclosure Act (63 O.S. 2001, Section 1-879.2a et seq.) and the Alzheimer's Disease Special Care Disclosure Rules (OAC 310:673). Residential Care Home

The residential care home offers or provides residential accommodations, food service, and supportive assistance. A residential care home may provide assistance with meals, dressing, bathing, and other personal needs, and it may assist in the administration of medications. However, it cannot provide medical care. These homes are licensed under the Residential Care Act, 63 O.S. Supp. 1998, Section 1-819 et seq. Assisted Living Center

The assisted living center is a home or establishment that may provide assistance with personal care, medications, and ambulation. The center may also provide nursing supervision and intermittent or unscheduled nursing care. The assisted living center cannot provide 24-hour skilled nursing care as is provided in a nursing facility. It is licensed under the Continuum of Care and Assisted Living Act, 63 O.S. Supp. 1998, Section 1-890.1 et seq., and the Continuum of Care and Assisted Living Rules, OAC 310:663. Continuum of Care Facility

The continuum of care facility combines the services of a nursing facility with an assisted living center or an adult day care center. It is licensed under the Continuum of Care and Assisted Living Act, 63 O.S. Supp. 1998, Section 1-890.1 et seq., and the Continuum of Care and Assisted Living Rules, OAC 310:663. It must also meet requirements applicable to nursing facilities assisted living centers, and adult day care centers, as applicable. Adult Day Care Center

The adult day care center provides health, social supportive, and recreational services to impaired adults for more than four hours per day. Of course, participants do not stay in the center overnight and do continue to live in their own homes. The center is licensed under the Adult Day Care Act, 63 O.S., Section 1-872 et seq., and the Adult Day Care Center Regulations, OAC 310:605.

Hospice

The hospice program provides supportive and palliative care to terminally ill patients. It is medically directed and nurse–coordinated. The physical setting may be a home, an institution, or a health facility. The hospice program must comply with the Hospice Licensing Act, 63 O.S. Home Care Agency

The home care agency provides skilled care and personal care services to clients in their residences. Skilled care includes services provided by a respiratory therapist and by other licensed personnel, including a registered or licensed practical nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, or social worker, The home care agency is licensed under the Home Care Act, 63 O.S. Hospital-Based Skilled Nursing Unit

This service operates under authority of a hospital license issued pursuant to the Public Health Code, Article 7, Hospitals and Related Institutions (63 O.S. Supp. 1998, Section 1-701 et seq.). It provides services similar to a licensed nursing facility, but patients typically are admitted to the skilled nursing unit directly from acute care. Medicare reimbursement policy drives the development and operation of these units, as virtually all patients are Medicare eligible.
