Low-Income Individual License Fee Waiver- House Bill 2933
House Bill 2933 was passed during the 2018 legislative session and became effective November 1, 2018. It related to professional and occupational licenses and an opportunity for a specific waiver of fees for certain persons.
Applicable Consumer Health Licenses
The applicable Consumer Health professional/occupational licenses are:
- Body Piercing and Tattooing Artist Licenses
- Professional Sanitarian & Environmental Specialists Registrations
(The waiver does not apply to health care profession licenses/certifications.)
Qualifications
To qualify for a one-time year waiver of license fees for any single license type a person must present one of the following documenting the definition of "low-income individual":
- Enrollment in a state or federal public assistance program such as:
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Medicaid or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
- Proof of household adjusted gross income below one hundred forty percent (140%) of the federal poverty line
Application
To apply for this one-time year waiver of a license fee:
- Follow the steps for any of the applicable licenses listed above --- all documentation for each license type is still required.
- In place of payment for the license fee, fill out the Consumer Health Waiver form and submit in lieu of license fee payment (all exam fees still apply).
- Submit all required application documents along with the Consumer Health Waiver form to the address listed on the application form.
