Hospital Preparedness Program

Moving forward with the next grant cycle in mid-2017, the federal cooperative agreement focuses on the development and maintenance of regional capabilities through improving on the structure and organization of Health Care Coalitions (HCCs).  With recent changes to several key pieces of federal legislation, CMS rules and the HPP cooperative agreement, direct funding of individual facilities and agenciesis no longer permitted under HPP.  There are several advantages to the shift from individual to regional preparedness, including accessing clinical and non-clinical expertise, networking among peers, sharing leading practices, developing interdependent relationships, reducing risk, and addressing other community needs, among others.
