Oklahoma Turning Point Conference & Policy Day Set for August 30

Community leaders, public health professionals, advocates and members of the public are invited to the “We Are Turning Point 2018” 21st Annual Turning Point Conference and 10th Annual Policy Day hosted by the Oklahoma Turning Point Council (OTPC). The event is Aug. 30 at the Moore Norman Technology Center, South Penn Campus, in Oklahoma City.
The conference will highlight best practices for effective community coalitions and strategic partnerships, offer practical tips for communities to create a culture of health, and engage the community in state and local advocacy efforts.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Nathan Mellor who is the CEO of C3 Brands and the president of Strata Leadership, LLC in Oklahoma City. He has consulted, trained and lectured throughout America and abroad to clients such as American Airlines, Locke Supply, Sandridge Energy and the U.S. Food and Drug and Administration.
Conference breakout sessions will cover topics such as teen pregnancy prevention, opioid abuse prevention, paid family leave, active living and transportation, and school health.
“There is truly something for everyone at this year’s Turning Point conference,” said OTPC Chairman Doug Moore. “The conference provides a venue to engage statewide leaders, partners and community members to effect policy, systems and environmental change to improve both state and community health.”
All attendees must register online by 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, as onsite registration is not available. Registration is $85 and includes lunch.
