Adair County Communicable Disease
Purpose
Recognize and prevent communicable diseases, such as food- and waterborne illness, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis and childhood diseases.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases:
- Confidential care and treatment
- Laboratory tests
- Disease investigation and follow-up of contacts
Tuberculosis Control:
- Skin testing and sputum examination
- Disease investigation and follow-up of contacts
- Drugs dispensed for treatment of TB infection and preventive therapy
Communicable Disease
- Disease investigation and follow-up of contacts
- Prevention and treatment
- Education
Services:
Registered nurses and sanitarians are always available to investigate outbreaks as they occur. In most circumstances, these professionals work as a local team with consultation from the state epidemiologists to address community problems.
