The Family Planning Program at the Pottawatomie County Health Department strives to prevent unintended pregnancies, including adolescent pregnancies by providing "individuals with the information and means to exercise personal choice in determining the number and spacing of their children".
The Family Planning Program at the Pottawatomie County Health Department provides clinical and counseling services for women of child bearing age who reside in Pottawatomie County.
Family Planning Clinic Services
The following services are provided for women of childbearing age who reside in Pottawatomie County.
- Pregnancy Test
- Pap Smear
- Breast Exam
- Testing For Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Testing For Anemia (Hemocue)
- Screening For Diabetes
- Screening For Sickle Cell Anemia
- Blood Pressure Check
* Women of childbearing age who reside in Pottawatomie County may also only request a pregnancy test or sexually transmitted disease (STD) exam.
Pregnancy tests are available on a walk in basis, Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Friday mornings only 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Family Planning Counseling Services
Counseling regarding various methods of birth control are also available for women of childbearing age who reside in Pottawatomie County. Counseling may be conducted on one or more of the following birth control methods:
- Natural Family Planning (rhythm method)
- Latex Condoms
- Vaginal Spermicides (film)
- Depo-provera Injections
- Birth Control Pills
- Intra-uterine Devices (IUD)
- Emergency Contraception
A sliding scale is used. �Fees are based on income, �No one is denied services based on inability to pay.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and first Friday by appointment.
