Beckham County Health Department

We are a dynamic department that provides a variety of the clinical and community services and programs to protect and promote the health of those who live, work, and visit Beckham County.

Our Vision

"Creating a State of Health"

Our Mission

"To Protect and Promote Health of The Citizens of Beckham County, To Prevent Disease and Injury, and To Assure the Conditions by Which Our Citizens Can Be Healthy"

This is accomplished through assessing the health needs of our communities and establishing health objectives to maintain essential personal, family, community, and environmental health services, identifying and responding to health threats, and enforcing laws that protect health. Our employees are dedicated to working to assure the health and well being of our county’s residents.

This year as our department leadership reviewed our County Health Indicators and began strategic planning, we recognized that in order to improve the health of Beckham County citizens, we need to acknowledge and address the social, environmental, and economic determinants of health, including poverty. We also need to address risky health behaviors associated with these determinants, such as low fruit and vegetable consumption, inadequate physical activity, and a high prevalence of smoking which contributes to the poor health status of our citizens. We will strive to ensure that the health implications of decision making will take into account issues which directly and indirectly impact the health of our county and that our strategic planning initiatives involve all sectors of the community.
