Governor Stitt Signs Bill Delivering More Education Freedom for Oklahoma Families

Wednesday, May 13, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 13, 2026) - Governor Kevin Stitt proudly signed House Bill 3705 into law, marking a major milestone in Oklahoma’s continued effort to expand educational freedom for families across the state.

HB 3705 increases the cap on the highly successful Parental Choice Tax Credit program to $275 million, ensuring thousands more Oklahoma families can access the education options that best meet their children’s needs. The program has already helped nearly 40,000 students this year alone, with demand continuing to surge.

“I want education freedom for every family in Oklahoma,” said Governor Stitt. “This law levels the playing field and ensures every parent has the freedom to choose the best education for their child. I always say kids belong to parents, not the government. This bill opens up more opportunities for more families."

The Parental Choice Tax Credit program provides refundable tax credits of $5,000 to $7,500 per student.

As access expands, Oklahoma families can also take advantage of the Oklahoma School Choice Hub, developed with the leadership of Secretary of Education Dan Hamlin. The hub allows parents to easily explore and compare school options statewide.

HB 3705 builds on the success of the Parental Choice Tax Credit program established in 2023 and reinforces Oklahoma’s position as a national leader in putting students and parents first.
