Governor Stitt Hosts NGA Summer Meeting, Highlights State Leadership and American Dream

OKLAHOMA CITY (August 3, 2026) - Governor Kevin Stitt welcomed governors from across the nation to Oklahoma City for the 2026 National Governors Association (NGA) Summer Meeting, highlighting Oklahoma’s leadership, hospitality, and commitment to advancing the American Dream.

“It has been an honor to serve as chairman of the National Governors Association,” said Governor Stitt. “This year has proven that governors coming together is more important than ever.”

During the meeting, governors participated in a historic “Common Ground” town hall with Governors, hosted in partnership with NBC News. The event brought together leaders for a national conversation on the issues that matter most to Americans.

“Disagreement isn’t actually the problem,” Stitt said. “The question is whether we’re willing to keep talking. If the founders taught us anything, it’s that disagreement handled correctly can make us stronger.”

Governor Stitt emphasized the NGA’s role as a model for cooperative federalism, where states collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop solutions tailored to their citizens’ unique needs.

“When states lead, America succeeds,” Stitt said. “There is no one-size-fits-all approach for a country as diverse as ours, and that’s exactly what makes us strong.”

The Governor also debuted his new film, “Reigniting the American Dream,” which explores the enduring promise of opportunity in the United States and the role states play in preserving that promise.

“We live in the greatest country in the world, and the American Dream is still alive and well,” said the Governor. “The next 250 years will be determined by whether we continue to come together, debate ideas, and solve problems as free people.”
