OKLAHOMA CITY (December 16, 2025) - Earlier today, Governor Kevin Stitt traveled to Adair County to visit with more than 300 poultry producers and community members to discuss how State of Oklahoma v. Tyson Foods, Inc. is affecting their families, contracts, and the local economy.
During the gathering in partnership with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau at Double R&P in Chance, the Governor reaffirmed his call for a commonsense settlement that balances environmental protection with the survival of family farms. For the last 20 years, farmers in eastern Oklahoma have lived with uncertainty.
“It’s important that we hear your side of the story, and I want you to know I’m standing with you, our chicken producers, over the big trial attorneys, because this is all about money,” said Governor Kevin Stitt emphasized to producers during the event. “You have followed your permits, you’re protecting the environment, and if anyone breaks the rules, we’ll enforce them — but we’re not going to go back 20 years and punish an entire industry that has done things right.”
Governor Stitt has urged the Attorney General to reach a resolution in this case that protects Oklahoma’s environment while safeguarding the livelihoods of producers across eastern Oklahoma.
Megan Langley, who owns a family chicken farm with her husband, shared her concerns with the Governor and attendees. She said producers have remained silent and listened for 20 years, but it is time for that to change for the families who are feeding America.
“When these companies get tired of fighting with the State of Oklahoma and decide it’s not worth it anymore, you’re not destroying a large corporation — you’re destroying a family like mine,” said Langley in remarks during the event.
Governor Stitt reiterated that he is proud to stand with these farmers.
“This isn’t an either-or issue; we can protect our water and protect our family farms at the same time,” said Governor Stitt.
The Governor also thanked the leaders and legislators who attended the event, including Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur, Secretary of Energy and Environment Jeff Starling, Speaker Kyle Hilbert, Representative David Hardin, and Senator Tom Woods.
